Inspired by bamboo fly rods, I have combined sections of bamboo fitted and glued individually to make the bamboo segment of the handle. The remained of the handle is select koa wood. This wood is from Hawaii and I was able to get select material from a guitar maker for a time. For this landing net I selected an eastern style hoop of figured maple and Koa. This net measures 21.5 inches overall with an 8.5 inch handle. The deep epoxy finish protects and enhances the net.
I have made these landing nets with a variety of wood to ascent the bamboo of the handle and hoop, including Texas ebony, Koa, maple burl and black walnut. My nets are all signed and numbered. Has a custom in shop made brass eye to attach the net to your vest or belt.
